Reiki Near Me Or Distance Reiki – What’s Best

Spiral in hands for Reiki near me Not everyone realizes that when it comes to energy healing and Reiki, in particular, they have two options: in-person Reiki near me or distance Reiki.

In fact, the whole idea of energy healing is new to many and thus a little hard to wrap their heads around. This is especially true of healing without actually being present. But, in actuality, both options are very effective.

What Is Reiki

First things first, let’s clarify what Reiki is. If you already know what it is, jump to the next section. (click to skip).

How It Works

Like other forms of energy healing such as acupuncture, acupressure, or Qigong, Reiki balances and improves the flow of your life force, the energy that gives you life. It clears energy blockages, releases excesses, and recharges deficits – all of which left untreated create imbalances and potentially dis-ease and other unhealthy conditions.

During a session, practitioners do not exchange energy with you. They work strictly with life force, which by definition is life-supporting and intelligent. Furthermore, practitioners can not force a particular outcome. They merely facilitate your desired outcomes as they support your self-healing.

This has two important implications. First, Reiki do no harm. Second, the impact of a session is significantly dependent on your openness toward the energy and your healing journey. The more open and trusting, the greater the healing. (For more, see my webpage for what a Reiki session is like).

Why Distance Reiki Works

Like other forms of energy, life force travels in waves. As such, it’s similar to light and sound, and also travels through space and penetrates walls. However, while these two primary forms of energy can be measured, Reiki is so subtle that modern science and technology are unable to measure it. Regardless, healing outcomes are observed and can be measured. Both practitioners and clients can feel the energy – generally a subtle flow, pressure, sensation, or temperature shift. And, of course, the client notices improvements.

In-Person Versus Virtual Sessions

Whether you receive an in-person or virtual treatment, healing will take place. The difference between the two largely comes down to your preference and convenience. Of course, practitioners often have a preference as well.

In-Person Sessions

Indeed, a cozy treatment room, soothing music, and other accents can create a safe and supportive healing space, which in turn, may relax and open you to greater healing and transformation. In addition, the personal attention and direct companioning of an in-person treatment can enhance the sense of being cared for, witnessed, and validated.

However, it’s also possible that it doesn’t. And, it can even have the opposite effect. As a client, I’ve certainly had both experiences. Healing is intimate and individual. What supports some clients may not support you.

In-person sessions allow you to talk to your practitioner in real-time during the session. As a practitioner, I’d prefer to share what comes up and allow you to reflect on the process and how it relates to your story. I notice larger shifts when clients do this.

But, this session format isn’t the norm. Most practitioners work silently and only offer a few observations at the end of the session if they do at all.

Virtual Sessions

Probably the biggest benefit of virtual sessions is convenience. As a client, you save time by not traveling back and forth from the session. In this way, virtual sessions are particularly beneficial for clients who don’t drive or own a car, have mobility issues, or are bedridden at home or in the hospital.

An additional convenience of distance healing is appointments aren’t required. Of course, you can still set up a specific time for the treatment, but it isn’t necessary.

Another important benefit is once you decide to go virtual, you can access practitioners from all over the world. And, with more choice comes more opportunity to find an excellent fit. (see also my blog on sending Reiki to others).

So, don’t shy away from distance Reiki because you can organize the same quality of healing as you would receive from an in-person treatment. It all comes down to your preference.
