Reiki and Crystals | Ways to Use Blended Energy

Together, Reiki and crystals offer blended energy to increase, expand, and deepen the healing of your Reiki sessions.

This blog post is for people attuned to Reiki, whether they have a commercial practice or mainly focus on self-care.

The reference to Reiki symbols related to various forms of Reiki will be relevant to Level II or Master Reiki healers.

As a Reiki Master/Instructor, I often use healing crystals in energy-healing sessions, classes, and rituals.

Here, I share ideas on enhancing your work as a Reiki practitioner by adding the healing power of crystals and other stones. These ideas apply to most types of energy work and self-care.

Why Energy Crystals and Stones

All matter is comprised of energy and has vibrational qualities. Many vibrational qualities offer holistic mind-body-spirit healing to people and other living things.

Healing stones and crystals are examples of energetic matter and can induce and support change and wellness. Because of this, they pair well with other forms of energy healing such as Reiki, Integrated Energy Therapy (IET), sound healing, and Shamanic practices.

All crystals are stones, but not all stones or rocks are crystals. When most people think of healing, they think of crystals; however, a stone such as granite or volcanic glass, such as obsidian, can also possess healing properties.

Stones and crystals’ unique properties and attributes depend on their mineral composition, formation, and structure. Most have a range of healing properties, affecting multiple bodily systems. They can influence the whole spectrum of mind, body, and spirit. Still, some have just one or two healing powers.

Ways to Use Reiki and Crystals Blended Energy

As noted, most stones and crystals offer a range of attributes. Nevertheless, they are listed here according to a specific attribute relevant to a selection of common Reiki intentions and practices. These examples are illustrative. Best practice suggests you know your crystals well before using them in a particular situation or on someone else.

Crystals For Clearing and Grounding

Crystals for negative energy clearing and grounding are discussed first because all Reiki treatments should be undertaken in a cleansed and grounded environment whenever possible. The work of Reiki Masters and practitioners benefits from the absence of toxic energies and obstructions. Grounding keeps the client and healer present and focused. It also helps the client integrate their healing process.

The crystals mentioned here can intensify the clearing power of the first and second Usui Reiki symbols, as well as the Sekhem-Seichim Reiki (SSR) variation of the first symbol. If you’re attuned to Karuna Reiki, you can use several symbols (e.g., Rama, Iava, and Harth) for Karmic release or to intensify the clearing intention.

One way to do this is to apply your preferred Reiki symbol, hold it to feel the energy release, and then lay the crystal on the spot to deepen and continue the process.

You can use Reiki and crystals alone or with smudging sticks, or herbs and essential oils with the desired and appropriate healing power.

Crystals for Clearing Energy

Black Tourmaline – transmutes and shields against negative energy
Clear Quartz – a master healing stone used for all types of cleansing. It galvanizes the clearing process of other stones
Lapis Lazuli – used for Karmic release
Obsidian – absorbs negative energy
Selenite – best all-around clearing, including cleansing other crystals
Smokey Quartz – transmutes negative energy
Sungite – absorbs electromagnetic energy

Stones and Crystals for Grounding

Black Onyx – particularly physical and mental grounding
Granite – has strong Earth energies and is fabulous for grounding
Hematite – has a strong connection to Earth
Obsidian – all-around grounding, and excellent for the mind in particular
Petrified Wood – has a strong connection to Earth and Earth energy
Shiva Lingam – grounding, centering, and balancing
Smokey Quartz – very quick and effective
Tiger Eye – grounding, particularly of the mind and emotions

Also, consider using Root Chakra stones because grounding is associated with the Root. Some suggestions are Red Tiger Eye, Red Jasper, and Black Tourmaline.

Crystals for Positive Energy and Protection

One of the many applications of the first Reiki symbol is energetic protection. In the SSR system, protection can also be derived from the first symbol variation, Cho Ku Ret, and Shinning Everlasting Living Waters of Ra. Pair these Reiki symbols with the following crystals.

Black Onyx – protects against psychic attacks
Black Tourmaline – creates a shield from negative energy
Citrine – very positive and protective
Jasper – protective qualities vary across different colored jaspers
Obsidian – protects against psychic attacks
Petrified Wood – clearing and protection from toxic energies in the physical realm
Smokey Quartz – protects and raises your vibration

Distance Reiki Healing and Connection

As a Reiki practitioner, you know the Second and Third (Distance or Connection) Symbols facilitate all kinds of connections across time and space. Using these symbols, you can initiate and encourage healing and learning from past, present, or future events or issues. You can also address parallel and past lives. SSR and Karuna offer several healing symbols oriented to the soul and spiritual connection.

Amythest – connection to your Crown Chakra, spirit, and spiritual realms
Black Obsidian – offers past life and trauma healing, and facilitates scrying and other forms of divination
Celestite – connects to and accesses spiritual realms
Lapis Lazuli – creates connections to the Self, dreams, and Karmic issues. For the latter pair, with Karuna Zonar and Halu symbols. Facilitates access to the Third-Eye Chakra and clairsenses. It creates physical and cosmic plane connections
Petrified Wood – connection to Earth and nature in particular
Rose Quartz – relating and connecting to others, your physical heart, and Heart Center.

Reiki and Crystal Healing Grid

You can strengthen your healing grids with the blended energy of Reiki and crystals. I often incorporate sacred symbols such as the Seed of Life, Flower of Life, and Metatron, arranging the stones to form the symbol. I always charge the grid with Reiki energy and symbols.

Common Reiki Intentions

Several common intentions clients bring to their Reiki sessions are included here for illustration. You’ll find many additional applications when you explore the properties of crystals and stones.

Worry, Fear, Anxiety, and Poor Quality of Sleep

Fear, worry, and anxiety are associated with the Root Chakra imbalance. Consider using healing stones for the Root and include ample grounding during your Reiki energy healing session. SSR has symbols specifically for rebalancing. Shanti, a Karuna symbol, brings peace and ease.

Agate – mental and emotional balance
Blue Tiger’s Eye – calming, reduces stress and anxiety
Dragon’s Blood Jasper – releases fear
Petrified Wood – calms survival-based fears
Orange Tiger’s Eye – reduces emotional stress and anxiety
Sodalite – promotes deep restorative sleep

More Joy, Happiness, and Abundance

SSR has plenty of symbols to work on this intention. It is strongly heart-centered, thus Heart Chakra crystals can be selected according to the specifics of the intention. For example, Rose Quartz and Clear Quartz crystals have beneficial attributes related to love and relationships.

Citrine – brings joy and happiness. Fosters successful relationships
Clear Quartz – acts like an amplifier and manifester stone, and creates abundance
Moss Agate – for abundance, prosperity, and new beginnings
Pyrite – for prosperity and financial abundance

Mental Focus, Clarity, and Confidence

This intention is less about mental health than about cognition and patterns of thinking, mental blocks, limiting beliefs, poor sense of self, and lack of confidence.

These Reiki intentions are closely linked with the Solar Plexus Chakra. Therefore, consider using common crystals strongly associated with this energy center, such as Citrine and Amber. The latter isn’t a crystal or stone. It’s fossilized tree resin.

Crystals and Reiki practices and symbols for clearing help untangle thoughts and clear the mind.

Chryocopase – encourages mental stability
Clear Quartz – supports mental focus and concentration, mental clarity, and good memory recall
Dragon’s Blood Jasper – strengthens the will, promotes courage, personal power, and self-confidence
Hematite – one of the best crystals for focus and connection
Tiger’s Eye – mental connection and clarity
Yellow Agate – supports mental clarity and acuity

Finding Direction, Meaning, and Purpose

Reiki intentions around emotional awareness, mental clarity, and grounding all support the process of discovery – finding direction, meaning, and purpose. They help you be authentic and make authentic choices. Both SSR and Karuna Reiki have several symbols to support this intention.

Pink and Red Agate – both give you a sense of purpose
Seraphinite Clinochlore – helpful if you sense a lack of purpose or a place in the world

Third Eye, Crown, and Soul Star Chakra crystals have supportive characteristics. Clear Quartz pairs with all three energy centers.

Breaking Habits, Personal Growth, and Creating Change

Crystals are excellent sources for change and orienting yourself toward success. Pair them with the Second Usui Reiki symbol to break habitual behaviors and add SSR energy to galvanize the process.

Cacoxenite – breaks old patterns and habits
Citrine – supports successful change and new beginnings
Moonstone – helps you embrace change and facilitates new beginnings
Dragon’s Blood Jasper – helps break bad habits, adopt new desirable behaviors

Intensify the supportive energy by following the lunar cycles to create your desired change.

I hope you’ve seen how blending the energy of Reiki and crystals is extremely versatile. The pairing combinations of practices, symbols, and crystal energy are limitless.
