How Reiki and IET Energy Healing Modalities Compare

People often ask me to compare my energy healing modalities such as Reiki healing energy, Integrated Energy Therapy (IET), ThetaHealing, subtle aromatherapy, and Shamanic Energy Healing Modalitiespractices.

They ask me to point out which is best for what. By far, Reiki and IET are the most well-known. Consequently, clients request these energy-healing modalities more often. Therefore, we’ll take a closer look at and compare these two.

What Reiki and IET Have In Common

Like most types of energy healing modalities, Reiki and IET both involve the channeling of universal life-force energy through the practitioner who acts as a hollow bone or clear channel. The client receives pure life force energy, which the practitioner doesn’t alter in any way.

Either modality can address a wide range of physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and energetic issues. And, the practitioner can work on the past, present, or future.

How Are Reiki and IET Different

From the client’s perspective, there’s one obvious difference between Reiki and IET energy healing modalities. Reiki usually involves a very light touch or perhaps none at all. In contrast, IET calls for the practitioner to gently press on fourteen points on the body where people hold certain emotional and mental patterns, e.g., resentment, anger, fear, etc. In other words, IET is typically not hands-on, while Reiki can be hands-off.

Of course, the energy and overall healing feel a little different as well. (If interested in how I experience the different forms of Reiki and Integrated Energy Therapy, see my blog series, which starts with Western Usui Reiki.)

Strengths of Reiki Energy Healing

I find that Reiki usually clears the aura more quickly than IET. In addition, it can create a more discernable and distinct connection with the future and past, including past life regressions.

Given the many different forms of Reik (Western Usui, Traditional Usui, Sekhem-Seichim, Karuna, Holy Fire, and more), this healing energy modality collectively offers an opportunity to expand the healing capacity of any given Reiki practitioner or Reiki session.

Strengths of IET Energy Healing

IET is particularly good at gently releasing trauma. In addition, I immediately think of IET whenever a client complains of being extremely stuck, or unable to change her/his behavior or circumstances. The healing process may unfold more slowly than that of Reiki. For example, it can take up to one month to manifest. But, in that timeframe, it can create significant change in multiple areas of the client’s life. And, incredibly, clients often don’t realize how bold of a transformation they’ve undergone.

Both energy healing modalities offer excellent support for vision work and sorting out what is the right path forward. Yet, IET has several specific tools for this type of healing work. This includes HeartLinks, mediations, and Steps of Transformation (for more details on these practices, see).

Both of these modalities can be combined to draw out the best synergy and the greatest personal and spiritual healing.
