Energy healing is effective and powerful when used alone. However, adding healing energy tools can focus and intensify a treatment. It can also enhance aesthetics, creating a more pleasurable experience, encouraging deeper relaxation and receptivity.
What Is Healing Energy
While everything is comprised of energy, it’s not necessarily the type that heals. Healing energy is a subtle energy that promotes balance, healing, and wellness. Chi, prana, and ki are primary examples.
Subtle energy’s entire mind, body, and spirit spectrum possesses many salubrious attributes. For example, emotions such as love, positive thoughts, beauty, and spiritual practices can encourage healing.
Here we focus on healing energy tools that support energy healing treatments such as Reiki, chakra therapy, and some forms of meditation. These healing tools can be healthful in and of themselves (singing bowls). Here, they’re treated as the healing energy instruments of individuals who channel subtle energy for restorative, curative, and transformative purposes. In other words, as supplements to the work of the channeler.
Furthermore, I’ve excluded specific healing techniques or practices. These are topics for other blog posts. (See my Starchaser Mind Body Spirit Blog on this site.)
Using this lens, this blog post is geared to energy channelers, although the information is useful to others who are not attuned (trained) in channeling subtle energy. Anyone can learn to use healing energy tools to work with their life force.
7 Healing Energy Tools That Enhance a Healing Session
1. Energy Clearing Herbs – Smudging
Smudging is a traditional botanical form of energetic cleansing. The particular plant species and their processed forms (dried herb bundles, resins, incense sticks, essential oils, etc.) used vary across regions of the globe.
Only certain species, such as white sage (Salvia apiana) or frankincense (Boswellia carteri or B. sacra), are believed to possess clearing properties. (See my ebook on smudging or Mind Body Spirit Blog for more details and specific examples.)
Beginning with a clear and protected space is paramount to an energy healing session. Thus, many energy practitioners include in their toolkit.
2. Pendulums
Pendulums can be used to divine the direction of the session. It can answer practitioner questions (yes, no, etc) or indicate energy blockages, weaknesses, or excesses.
The energy channeler passes the pendulum over the client’s body, watching the direction it swings, taking note of any changes, and interpreting what it means.
3. Healing Crystals
Stones and crystals are energetic and can possess unique healthful properties that depend on their mineral composition, formation, and structure. Most have a range of useful properties, affecting multiple bodily systems, the auric field, and the whole spectrum of mind, body, and spirit.
Clear quartz is a master healing stone that deeply cleanses, focuses energy, and can boost the effectiveness of other crystals and the healer. Celinite facilitates the practitioner’s access to spiritual realms.
You can see more examples and learn more about blending channeling with crystals by reading my Reiki and Healing Crystals blog post. While the discussion is focused on Reiki, the information is illustrative and pertinent to other energy healers.
4. Sound Healing
Healing with sound includes a whole range of healing instruments, such as drums, rattles, chakra bija chanting, singing bowls, tuning forks, and musical compositions and songs.
Sound and music in and of themselves can be healing. More and more researchers are substantiating what people have understood since the beginning of human time: sound can heal and transform.
Healing Music
Soft, spacious musical compositions promote relaxation, an open focus, and receptivity to the healing process. Ethereal pieces can invoke a spiritual sense and even a trance state.
Unless a client requests otherwise, music is an essential complement to my practice as a Master Energy Practitioner.
Singing Bowls
Typically, only one or several singing bowls will be introduced to a session. Many practitioners use a bowl to close and seal a treatment, while others may choose to open with it.
Because singing bowls can resonate within an infinite range of frequencies, energy channelers can pick specific bowls to complement specific techniques and healing intentions.
For example, heart-centered Sekhem-Seichim Reiki (SSR) pairs well with a Heart Chakra bowl. A bowl tuned to the Root or Earth Star Chakra could reinforce the practitioner’s work when grounding is called for.
Tuning Forks
The harmonics of tuning forks work much like those of singing bowls. They also cover a wide range of tones or sounds.
Some forks tune to specific planets, chakras, parts and organs of the physical body, and different brain states (Beta, Alpha, Theta, Delta, and Gamma).
Single, pairs, and sets of folks create different healing effects. Furthermore, a practitioner can use tuning forks to open an energetic portal to neuroplastic change and transformation.
Chakra Toning Using Bijas or Sound
Each chakra is associated with a particular sound, tone, or bija. The sound or vibration of a bija balances and tones its corresponding chakra. Doing so can improve energy flows within areas of the chakra’s influence. For example, ham or hum, the Throat Chakra bija, can treat the voice, throat, and the ability to communicate and manifest.
Drums and Rattles
Drums and rattles are common to Shamanic healing and Reiki Shamanism. Both can clear negative energy, call in spirit guides, and create a trance-like state if desired.
5. Subtle Aromatherapy
Aromatics and essential oils, more specifically, possess numerous medical and metaphysical properties. Subtle aromatherapy deals with the latter.
Channelers can deepen the healing through the incorporation of essential oils. As a certified aromatherapist and Master energy practitioner, I can select oils that pair with the healing intentions of the client. Moreover, I can request assistance from the plant and its energetic capacities without requiring the presence of the physical plant product.
When channelers decide to use aromatics, they must research reliable sources of information on safe and effective application and use only natural, high-quality oils of the appropriate botanical species. They should also consider chemical, emotional, and olfactory effects of scent. In addition, partitioners need to seek permission from their clients to include actual essential oils in the healing session.
6. Oracle Cards
There are many ways to incorporate Oracle cards in a healing session. I like to use them as metaphorical openers. I have my clients pick a card and interpret what they see as it relates to their intentions. The process piques their curiosity, opens their focus, and thus their receptivity.
I prefer Dorreen Virtue oracle cards and animal totem cards.
7. Sacred Geometric Forms
Sacred geometry “is a mathematical language that explores the relationship between the parts and the whole in nature and the universe. (Rare Earth Gallery).” Their energetic, spiritual, and healing properties resonate from their specific form (e.g., the Flower of Life, Metatron, Sri Yantra).
Sekhem-Seichim Reiki (SSR) incorporates the infinity symbol in several SSR symbols and techniques. More broadly, the symbols can be visualized or drawn where the channeler wants to focus this energy.
Healing crystals can be found in geometric forms such as hearts, pyramids, and merkaba. They possess the healing properties of their mineral content and geometric form, and offer practitioners yet another set of complementary healing attributes to work with.
Energy healers can place a sacred geometric pattern under a crystal grid. The stones are then placed on the geometric form. The healer can also charge the grid with healing energy.
The use of these tools depends on the preference of the channeler. Some use several tools, others rely on one in particular. I use all of these at times, but none all the time. I find trusting my sensing and intuition by far the most efficacious aspect of my practice.
