Balance Your Sacral Chakra Naturally

Sacral chakra mandala for balance your sacral chakra naturally

Your energy centers, the chakras, interact and collaborate to create good health and wellness. However, their nature is dynamic, which means they constantly shift in and out of balance. And, when they do, they often pull other chakras along with them. For the sake of simplicity here, we’ll look at one chakra: the sacral chakra, orange chakra, or Svadisthana. We’ll also discuss how to balance your sacral chakra naturally.

Some better-known examples of holistic treatments are plants, crystals, sound, and energy healing. All of these healing methods are fundamentally vibrational, therefore, they communicate well with your energy centers and provide natural healing and rebalance.

From my perspective as a practitioner, aromatic plants offer excellent bridges between subtle (energetic) and biochemical (clinical) as well as physical modalities. Therefore, here we’ll discuss using plants in their vibrational and highly concentrated form of high-quality essential oils. These oils have amazing subtle qualities.

Of course, energetic imbalances and other health issues are complex. Typically when one chakra goes out of balance, others do too. For example, oftentimes the sacral and solar plexus chakras disturb one another. And, of course, chakras are just one aspect of the energy and holistic puzzle. This blog is meant to open the door just a tiny crack to give you a glimpse of a much bigger body of information and practice. To simplify further, we’ll look at just the sacral chakra.

The Sacral Chakra (Svadisthana)

The sacral chakra, also known as the Svadisthana in Sanskrit, is located in the center of the belly above the groin, below the belly button.

Characteristics of the Sacral Chakra

The sacral chakra is associated with family, sexuality, passion, and creativity. Our desires, aspirations, and imagination are expressed through this chakra. Many of our core beliefs are formed and held here.

Within the body, the sacral chakra is associated with the sexual organs, the uterus, prostate, bladder, kidneys, and the sense of taste. The tongue is this chakra’s sense organ.

Balanced Sacral Chakra

People with balanced or vital sacral chakras draw on their creativity and passion and are comfortable with their physical and sexual identities. They tend to have a warm and constructive approach to both personal and professional relationships, and healthy family and love relations.

Imbalanced Sacral Charka

Imbalances in the sacral chakra tend to manifest in the physical body as eating disorders, menstrual issues, and problems with the sex organs of either sex and the kidneys.

Sacral Charka Imbalances Tied to Other Chakras

Sacral Charka Influence Over Other Chakras:

In my experience, imbalances in the sacral chakra and issues or traumas tied to this chakra are typically expressed in other chakras as well. This isn’t hard to understand given that the family influences all aspects of a person’s life through the extended process of childhood development. This starts with the provision of basic needs (root chakra).

Learning and experience are built upon and shaped by the learning and experience that preceded them. In addition, experience has a holistic nature and is unrestricted to specific silos.

Sacral Charka Interactions With Other Chakras:

Desires and passions are closely linked to the heart chakra while creativity draws upon intuition (the third eye or sixth chakra) and when it is expressed it has ties to the throat or the fifth chakra. These are just a few of the interconnections.

The signs and symptoms of the sacral chakra imbalance are varied. Relationship, sexual, or interpersonal issues are typically expressed through the sacral chakra as feelings of inadequacy and lack of self-worth, self-criticism, victimization, loneliness, disassociation or obsession with the physical body (frigidity, compulsive eating disorders, and anorexia).

People with sacral chakra issues are typically over-controlling themselves, others, and situations. Perhaps it’s the tendency to constrain and control that ultimately leads to more frequent emotional outbursts.

Sacral Chakra Aromatic Oils

Oils for the sacral chakra tend to have a stimulating scent and have the effect of loosening one up – emotionally, mentally, sexually, or energetically. They tend to encourage genuine personal expression either through creativity, industry, or the formation of bonds and friendships. Some of the more common essential oils include:

  • Bay Laurel (Laurus nobile)
  • Bergamot (Citrus bergamia)
  • Cardamon (Electtaria cardomomum)
  • Jasmine (Jasminum grandiflorum)
  • Orange (Citrus sinensis)
  • Neroli (Citrus aurantium)
  • Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin)
  • Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)
  • Rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora)
  • Sandalwood (Santalum album)

Sacral Chakra Essential Oil Healing Properties

All of the above essential oils stimulate and open the sacral chakra, loosen or release stuck energy, and encourage sensual, sexual, or creative expression.

Sandalwood is in some ways the quintessential essential oil for the sacral chakra. It promotes positive self-esteem and contentment with the self, stimulates sensual and spiritual love and sexuality, and regulates hormones and the reproductive system.

Uplifting and Encouraging

The citrus essential oils are uplifting and encouraging as well. They help one experience events in a balanced and positive way and transmute harsher experiences that may otherwise fester into debilitating memories and life-long negative patterns.

Connection

Bay laurel is stimulating, and it also promotes the communication of intuitive and imaginative ideas. Patchouli offers emotional support as well as arouses sexuality and sensuality, allowing for a greater sense of security in relationships.

Releasing and  Inhibitions

When I think of opening, embracing, liberating, and releasing inhibitions, I always think of Jasmine. It makes the process of opening up joyful rather than fearful. It promotes love, sensuality and sexuality, creativity, and living in the moment. Jasmine harmonizes and promotes wholeness.

Openness

If the sacral chakra issue is mostly about just being stuck, citruses and jasmine create a blend that is open, bright, and alive.

Support

The presence of a lot of self-recrimination suggests the use of patchouli and sandalwood because they provide love and support and a safe context for more honest self-assessment. For someone who experienced physical or sexual abuse as a child, either of these aromatic oils as well as Neroli can be added to a healing blend. This is because all three are deep supportive scents. Neroli offers a profound sense of ease. It also helps a person breathe deeply, feel peace and calm, and feel whole. It is such a unique and beautiful scent.
