Introduction to Shamanic Journeying Class

Introduction to Shamanic Journeying

Shamanic Journeying is a powerful tool for personal development, visioning, and healing. It is, in essence, a form of energy work and healing.

The purpose of this one-day Introduction to Shamanic Journeying class is to introduce students to the purpose, historical role, and practice of shamanic journeying as well as teach students three variations of one approach to journeying.

Students learn to journey and use retrieved guidance for both spiritual and every life matters. Anyone can learn to journey. The bigger challenge is to listen to the guidance and put it into action - all within the traveler's (student's) sphere of influence. Students enrolled this class will receive a basic background to shamanic journeying, how to set a clear and protected space and how to call in energies. Students will also take multiple journeys: at least one to each of the lower, middle and upper worlds. They will journey for themselves and others. Practice is a central part of the class.

Power animals are an important element of shamanic practice as well as many traditional cultures' spiritual beliefs. Power animals accompany people, sometimes for their entire lives, protecting them from illness and harm. They also offer spiritual and personal guidance.

Prerequisite: no journeying experience; however, all student must have a power animal. For those who have not made contact with their power animal I can retrieve one for them in exchange for a donation to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation or Homeward Trails Animal Rescue. Power animal retrievals will be performed remotely. Simply contact me upon registration for the class to arrange a power animal retrieval. If possible, please register at least one week before the class if you need a power animal. This will allow me ample time to perform the retrieval prior to the class.

Class Cancelation Policy

I like my classes to be small and intimate, but there is minimum number of students is required for certain classes and workshops. Exchange and learning from other students is invaluable to the experience. In addition, there are often fixed costs associated with renting a venue.

One week to ten days prior to the scheduled class or workshop, I reconfirm that the class or workshop will be held as planned, provide additional logistical information and send out class materials.

  • Cancellations made three weeks prior to the class or workshop, are refundable.
  • Cancellations made two weeks prior to the class or workshop, are not refundable, but students receive full credit toward another class or workshop. These changes are subject to a $35 administrative fee.
  • Cancellations made within one week or less of the class or workshop are not refundable, nor will the student receive credit. I'm sorry to impose this penalty, but there are venue fees and the possibility that a small class or workshop would need to be cancelled for all students when one cancellation is made at this late stage.
